So many people are looking for authenticity today. You see it wherever you go. Facebook, TV, Twitter and so much more. They want to know who and what is real. I struggle with it on a day to day basis. Is this ad really what it says it is, will I really get this tv at this price or is there some kind of catch? Is this person who they say they are? Or do they just want to make themself look good?
My struggle with authenticity comes on a more spiritual outlook. So as I began to question authenticity I wanted to know the definition.
Authenticity - refers to the truthfulness of origins, attributions, commitments, sincerity, devotion and intentions.
Sincerity struck me as the key word. How sincere is my walk with Christ. Can people see my authenticity? Or I am just a girl that has made it this far in a walk with Christ but can drop off the face of the "church" planet anytime.
As my experience in the religious system I have seen so many people come and go. I have seen teenagers that were sold out for Jesus now in there adult life not even darken the door of a church. I have seen people in there 20's and 30's raised in the church that get hurt and they no longer go back to the church system.
To be honest it scares me. What if that is me? What if I gave up? What if I quit?
Luckily, I am no longer in the church system. I have a wonderful pastor and worship minister that inspire me weekly. That God has ordained them to be in my life and He continues to use them weekly in my life to help meet my spiritual need and to be a tool in the growth of my spiritual walk. For that I am thankful.
I am thankful that I no longer have to worry if I will be one of those people. Because I know that I will walk in authority in my relationship with Christ. That this isn't something I will give up on. No way no how. I will leave a legacy for my family.
That is what is most important to me my walk with Jesus and to leave a legacy for my family and future family. My son's future wife, my future grandchildren. To build our house on a firm foundation not sinking sand. To be true sold out followers for Jesus Christ. That no one will be able to question on what is authentic and what is not. It black or white not gray.
Sunday at our service we sang "Blessed be the Name". Let me tell you something when you see your 5 year old little boy get excited to sing that song and he knows the words and he can rock out to it. That is what excites me, that is what moves me, that is when I know I have done a good job and that is what makes this journey worth it even more.
Have a great week and live an authentic life

Catching up
So as you noticed I haven't posted the last 2 days leading up to Christmas. I guess the holidays got the best of me and I either got way to tired or way to busy. Rest assured, we did get in everything planned and it has all been well documented with the camera. I am just going to combine the 23rd thru the 24th on this post. So sorry if it is overly long.
December 23- Baking cookies for Santa
Well we couldn't find just a regular sugar cookie mix at the Dollar store they were sold out, but they did have one box left of funfetti sugar cookies (score)! It was fun did the trick and we had a great time baking the cookies. First of all I had gotten off work early that day, Ryan went shopping with my mom to buy me my Christmas present (the kid has great taste, of course he did learn from the two best people his mom and nanny). When he got home we took naps, long naps. He slept till 7 and that usually means we are both up late. So we started baking cookies at 9,
then we played the wii and then at 11 we loaded up and went to Reasors to buy dessert because I didn't feel like making it this year and I wanted to avoid crowds. I know I looked like a winner walking in the Reasor's at 11 p.m. with my 5 year old, but hey we had naps and we weren't going anywhere the next day. Anyways we never got around to decorating the cookies because then we were tired and we slept.
December 24-frosting cookies and fondue
So we woke up Christmas Eve Ryan at 7:30 excited it was Christmas Eve, me at 9 because I was exhausted. I went ahead and pulled my new Kreuig out of the box and plugged in it and proceeded to try a million different kinds of coffees and then I spent the rest of the day in the bathroom, yikes! Won't do that again. Sorry TMI, Anyways so we got around to frosting cookies,
picking out the best 2 and putting them on Santa's plate for the evening. I had a special secret Santa mission to accomplish so we got ready I took Ryan to my mom's house and I ran all over Green Country. I finally made it to my brothers house that evening where I was promptly told by my 5 year old that I was late and the last one to come here. Then the festivities began for the last several Christmas eve's and for a lot of my child hood we had fondue. Back before it was popular (I know it was popular in the 70's but not so much in the 80's and 90's ok) back before chocolate and cheese fondue and we just used oil and cooked different meats. Time has evolved on how we cook the fondue and now we all have fondue pots and we bring them out this time of the year. Well Ryan loved the meat fondue, he didn't try dipping in the chocolate or the cheese but just ate the stuff plain.
After fondue we had present time and it was great, I got everything I ordered myself (ha ha, it's true). Ryan had a great time and then we went home.
He said his sad goodbye's to duke (elf on the shelf) put milk in Santa's cup got his Christmas jammies on and then he went to bed. Then the waiting game began. I was so excited on what Santa was bringing Ryan I couldn't sleep at all.
